[BKNY15] Frank Fren Update

6:30pm Just got off the phone with John Fren (son) ...better news. Frank shattered his ankle tearing his ligaments  & tendons. The ER did clean up his wounds and found more damage than 1st thought. They are waiting the swelling to go down and he will need reconstructive surgery, needing reattachment of Tendons and ligaments, probably friday, afterwards will be casted. The family is greatful for the continued prayers & concerns and will keep in touch. We will send Frank some goodies at a later time. See you tomorrow.Dale

Brothers, I'd like to start by saying thank you to the members (15) and friends that turned out on relatively short notice, for the Shield the Blue Ride/Event. We were joined by 5 members of "The Italians" MC on our ride to Commack. The Commack gathering was impressive, 7 MC's and over 100 riders which as you know can be challenging, especially when riding etiquettes & techniques varies like  potholes on the LIE. Upon arrival at the rally, word spread of a rider "going down" 25mins earlier ... without much more info. It turns out that rider was Brother Frank Fren riding his Trike involved in a collision with a car on the Sagtikos Pkway North. We learned of the accident approx 45mins later that he had suffered a compound break of his ankle and was taken by Commack Ambulance to St. Catherines several BKNY15 members arrived to find it was ad information and was taken to Stonybrook ... where we were warned of no entry or communications.At 9:15pm last nite I spoke to Sharon Fren who could not enter nor talk to Frank and as of 730pm Frank had still not be attended to, she and son John left the hospital.Tues 530pm again I just got off the phone with Sharon, still Franks has not been attended, wrapped or casted. Broken ankle+, but she has spoken via his cell ph, which is out of juice. Frank is is in pain but good spirits.I am making contact with John Fren shortly.More to follow.Dale
