*Good Afternoon Everybody,*

*I have decided, after thinking about it for a long time, to step down as
Assistant State Captain effective immediately. As I am nearing 76 years old
and having served many years in one capacity or another, that is time to
enjoy life. This does not mean that I am quitting PGR, but it does mean
that I  will have less responsibility.*

*It has truly been an honor to stand for our Heroes and to support their
families. It has been an honor to have been able to stand as many missions
as I have and be there for so many families . . . how many  times has a
mother or a wife cried on my shoulder and how many times have we cried
together? Knowing that I have done something for these families has been
life for me. I made a promise a long time ago in a place called Vietnam,
that if I survived and in the name of all of those who helped me survive,
that I would serve other Heroes and their families and that is what PGR has
allowed me to do.*

*Most of all, it is truly an honor to know all of you and to stand with so
many of you. You all have humbled me. Many times I have written that you
are heroes too . . . I mean that. You all are special people and my door is
open to any one of you. Because I am stepping down does not mean that I
will not stand missions . . . I  will stand missions like everybody else.
Never forget that you are heroes too . . . I have so many stories of
individuals who have gone way out of their way for me. Without you there
would be no me and no PGR . . . I could go on and on.*

*Even though I am only stepping down, you will not be seeing me for 6
months. It is time for me to  become a Winter Texan again and stay out of
the cold and snow. In case you want to know, I stand many missions for PGR
in Texas as it is an honor for me to stand anywhere for our Heroes. Please
