[Assistant State Captain West]

Good Afternoon Everyone . . . this mission request came to me late last
night. I know that it takes place on Veterans Day and that many of us are
busy. If you can, please try to attend this mission. Pvt Hyde finally got
the medals awarded to him even though he has been MIA for 78 years. His
medals are going to be presented to his family. Thank you and thank you all

*ABOUT THE MISSION:*
The Patriot Guard Riders of Pennsylvania have been asked to escort his
sister Elaine Flewellyn, the last of 7 siblings, and to stand in honor of
Carl’s sacrifice on Monday November 11th, as she is presented with the
Medals Carl earned during his service including the Purple Heart and
several Campaign Medals during a special presentation ceremony held at the
Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post 963 which proudly bears his name. This
December marks 78 years that Carl has been MIA. Pvt. Carl E. Hyde served in
the US Army during the beginning days of WWII where he was attached to
Signal Air Warning company under Gen Douglas MacArthur. On Dec 8th1941 one
day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Carl and some other soldiers took
weapons and ammunition into the jungle to try to slow the Japanese
advancement. He was never seen nor heard from again. We will meet at the
Olney Funeral home and await the arrival of Elaine Flewellyn with his flag
and medals and then escort her to American Legion Post 963 where we will
stand in silent recognition as honors are shown to Pvt Carl E. Hyde and to
the remaining family members for their sacrifice to this great nation. Pvt
Carl E. Hyde is a true American Patriot that has given all he had to give
to this great nation. Now it's our turn to stand and honor him for his
ultimate sacrifice.
