Dear Ride Captains,

As a follow up from the email sent to our general membership, it has been
brought to our attention that there is a definite problem with unnecessary
chatter on the flag line. We received comments from members themselves
such as disrespectful and unprofessional. Some comments were that members
were so disturbed that they no longer were attending missions because of
the lack of respect being shown. Talking when no mourners or family are in
view done softly is acceptable as long as you are away from the entrance to
the funeral home.. However, as soon as people start to arrive, we must
stand in silent respect. So it is important to stress this at your
briefing before the mission.

As we get older, some of us become hard of hearing and tend to talk louder.
Voices carry and we need to be aware of that. Please use your discretion
in handling this problem as we all know, volunteers are hard to get and
often offended but we need to keep our numbers up. Please be
understanding but firm on this issue. But the bottom line is we are there
for the families of the fallen and it is ALL about them NOT about US at all.

Please refresh your memory of the proper protocol for the flag line that
was sent. It was sent by shadowriders and sometimes those emails end up in
spam. Maybe keeping a copy available for new members would be a good idea.
Any questions, please feel free to contact Steve Vassar or me for
further explanation.

Thank you,
Steve Vassar PGRPA State Captain
