*A Message From PGRPA State Captain Steve Vassar*
On this Veterans Day I wish to convey to each and every Veteran of the
United States Armed Forces and heartfelt "THANK YOU"! As we celebrate
today I hope each member of the Patriot Guard Riders, whether a Veteran or
not, reaches out and recognizes someone who signed on the line and wrote
that check for " up to and including his/her life".

*"**Veterans Day* (originally known as *Armistice Day*) is a federal
holiday in the United States
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_holidays_in_the_United_States> observed
annually on November 11, for honoring military veterans
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veteran> of the United States Armed Forces
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Armed_Forces> (who were
discharged under conditions other than dishonorable).[1]
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veterans_Day#cite_note-3> It coincides with
other holidays including Armistice Day
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armistice_Day> and Remembrance Day
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remembrance_Day> which are celebrated in
other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_I>.[3]
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veterans_Day#cite_note-:0-4> Major
hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th
day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Armistice with Germany
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armistice_with_Germany> went into effect. At
the urging of major U.S. veteran organizations, Armistice Day was renamed
Veterans Day in 1954." (copied from Wikipedia)

There are many celebrations today and I'm sure this weekend, remember
to teach your children and others that Veterans Day truly has a meaning and
is a day we should all hold in a special spot in our thoughts. Without our
Veterans I can only speculate what this great nation would have become,
While this Veterans Day was not formed until the after the "11th hour of
the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 ", the end of World War I and
formerly called Armistice Day I often reflect back and think about the
Veterans that fought for our freedoms in the Revolutionary War, French and
Indian War, The Civil War just to name a few.

So in short, when your out and about, when you see a World War II
Veteran, Korean War Veteran, Vietnam War Veteran, Global War on Terrorism
Veteran or Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans reach-out, say thank you for your
service, buy their coffee, just one way or another let them know you
appreciate their service to a Grateful Nation.

Respectfully, and sincerely thankful for our Veterans
