*Richland American Legion Post #548 Memorial Ceremony31 May 2021Gibsonia,
PA*
The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited back by The Richland American
Legion Post #548, to form a procession then stand in silent honor for a
Memorial Day Ceremony which will include a Final Roll Call, honoring their
hometown heroes who served that have passed on.
Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for
those who died serving our country, defending her and giving us the freedom
we have today.
Final Roll Call
Raymond E. Anderson Sr. USA Vietnam Veteran
Ray served in the U.S. Army, in theatre during Vietnam from January of 1960
with an overseas tour in Berlin during the Berlin Crisis where he was
posted at checkpoint Charlie. Ray was given an Award by the 2nd Battle
Group 47th Infantry for the hazards of duty behind the Iron Curtain and his
exemplary behavior while there. Ray served three years active duty, with
last duty assignment to Fort Lewis in Washington State before honorably
discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
Following time served, Ray became a member of American Legion Post #548, for
a total of 5 years as Service Officer in addition to serving on the Honor
Guard.
Harry P. Hanley USA Korean War Veteran
Harry served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
Following time served, Harry became a member of American Legion Post #548,
for a the total of one year.
James "Jim" F. Kotchey USAF Vietnam Era Veteran
Jim served in the U.S. Force from January of 1966 during the Vietnam Era as
an Air Policeman. Part of his overseas tours included Ramey AFB in Puerto
Rico and Elmendorf AFB in Alaska. Jim honorably discharged May of 196,
attaining the rank of Airman 3rd Class.
Decorations include the Good Conduct Medal and the National defense Service
Medal.
Following time served, Jim became a member of American Legion Post #548,
for a total of 5 years.
Jack R. Matthews Sr. USA Korea Era Veteran
Jack served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Following time served, Jack became a member of American Legion Post #548,
for a total of 3 years.

Jack R. Matthews Jr. USA Vietnam Era Veteran
Jack proudly served like his Father in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam
Era.
Martin R. O'Malley USA & USAF, Korean War Era Veteran
Martin served in the U.S. Army and the Special Category Army, reassigned
with the U.S. Air Force as Specialist 3rd Class and was then reassigned to
Guam in the Aviation Engineering Battalion as a Supply Clerk. Martin's last
assignment was in Fort Knox.
Following time served, Martin became a member of American Legion Post #548,
for a total of 16 years.
Ambrose J. Polena USAF & AFRES Vietnam Era Veteran
Ambrose enlisted in the U.S. Air Force July 1958 and was assigned to the
328th Field Maintenance Squadron at Richards-Gebaur AFB in Missouri, until
he was released from Active Duty July of 1962. Ambrose then served in the
U.S. Air Force Reserves for two years and was honorably discharged July of
1964.
Decorations include the Good Conduct Medal.
Following time served, Ambrose became a member of the American Legion Post
#548, for a total of 14 years.
Victor J. Tomsko U.S.A. Korean War Veteran
Victor proudly served in the U.S.Army, with the 3rd Infantry Division,
rank of Sergeant during the Korean War.
Decorations include the Silver Star, Bronze Star and the Korean Service
Medal.
Victor later became a member of American Legion Post #548, for a total of
36 years.
Donald "Don" Trap USA Korean Veteran & First Responder
Don proudly served in the U.S. Army, in theatre during the Korean War as a
Tech Sergeant with Company C 23rd Infantry Regiment as a Light Weapons
Infantryman from February of 1953 to December of 1954.
Decorations include the Korean Service Medal w/ one Bronze Service Star,
United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation,
Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Following time served, Don continued his service by supporting his
community, time with the South Butler Community Meals on Wheels as well as
volunteering numerous hours at the Butler Veteran’s Hospital.
Don was also a member with the American Legion Post #548, for a total of 10
years which also includes, serving on the Honor Guard.

Members can attend all of a mission or any part of the mission. PGR sets no
time for a member to escort and or stand a mission. We Thank you for
whatever time you give us and the families of our heroes appreciate your
time.
