My Fellow Patriot Guard Riders,

It is with an extremely heavy heart that I pass along the sad news of Mr Richard (Rick) Thomas' passing yesterday morning (10 September 2018). Rick was the Patriot Guard Riders of Pennsylvania Senior Ride Captain for Region 1 comprising Erie/Warren/Crawford/Venango/Forrest counties in North Western Pennsylvania. His steadfast dedication to honoring those who answered our Nation's call to service shown through in EVERY mission he led or participated in.

The first mission Marcy and I attended in Region 1, Rick immediately came over and introduced himself, then us to the rest of the PGR there. It was immediately evident that he strongly believed in what we were doing for the veteran and their family. Rick was held in high esteem for his actions and willingness to accept an honor mission, even extremely short notice missions ... there will be a void in the Patriot Guard Riders with his passing.

I had the distinct honor of receiving his nod of approval in becoming State Captain, but the highest honor came when he said at the end of a conversation in 2013, " ... take care, and we'll see you soon, Brother!" No other honor could be bestowed upon a Rider than to be called Brother by such a caring, loving man!

At this time, there are no services scheduled for Rick. We will advise all, in every medium, if/when there is anything scheduled in the future. Please, unless you are a close personal friend, we ask you let the family have some time to grieve and process their loss. We are here for you, if you need anything! To talk, to share a story about Rick, to help you process YOUR loss of Rick as well.

Rick, you may be physically gone from this Earth ... but you will ALWAYS be with us in spirit and in our hearts. You, Mike Skrekla, and Moose Simon will lead us in every mission we have, from here forward.

--

Respectfully,
ⓋTimmaye!!!
Timothy N Smith
Master Sergeant, United States Air Force (Retired)
State Captain
Senior Ride Captain, Region 10
Patriot Guard Riders of Pennsylvania : " * HONOR * DIGNITY * RESPECT * "

"Our Flag does not fly of its own accord ... it flies as our Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen & Coasties rush past to protect her!" ~Timothy N Smith 2014

If you forward this e-mail, PLEASE,
